"No Bruising Means InMode Didn't Work" — Is That True?

A common belief says InMode only works if it leaves a bruise. A Gangnam dermatologist explains who InMode FX suits, the hollow-cheek concern, and why bruising does not measure the result.

In the heat of summer, many people look in the mirror and feel their face looks rounder and wider than everyone else's, with a visible double chin. If that's you, you've probably considered InMode at some point — while also wondering whether it's the right procedure for you and whether it will actually work. Let's take a look at InMode.

Who InMode suits

  • A round face — those with fullness around the cheekbones or who can pinch fat at the deep cheek and side cheek.
  • A pronounced double chin — InMode FX can help.

What InMode FX does

Through repeated sessions, fat in the cheeks, jaw and double-chin area is reduced and the contour re-emerges.

Will InMode leave my cheeks hollow?

Depending on face shape, some people have plenty of facial fat but already have specific areas that are hollowed. Those patients need care during treatment. That said, at a clinic that properly assesses face shape before treating — rather than a "factory-style" clinic — the chance of hollow cheeks can be markedly lower.

If cheek hollowing does occur after treatment, you can wait about 2–3 months for recovery. To restore the hollowed area itself, volume can be improved with Juvelook Volume or filler.

If I have fuller cheeks, can InMode alone fix it?

When the facial contour has collapsed significantly, combining a contour-forming procedure such as Shurink or Ultherapy can produce a better result. And where fat is concentrated locally — for example the deep cheek or double chin — adding a contour (fat-dissolving) injection to just that area can enhance the effect.

"No bruising means it didn't work" — is that true?

Bruising can occur after InMode FX. It is the most common side effect: some people bruise more depending on skin thickness, while others are left only with a red mark that fades. Bruises generally clear within 4–5 days, or up to a week at most. More bruising does not mean a better result, and less bruising does not mean it didn't work.

"I'm worried it will hurt"

InMode works by applying heat to dissolve fat, so you may feel a hot sensation toward the end of the session. If it feels too hot, the operating time can be adjusted to reduce discomfort. There is some discomfort, but the procedure is popular because it delivers strong value for the price.

InMode FX is a relatively safe and effective lifting procedure. Whether it's the right procedure for you, however, is best decided through a thorough consultation with an experienced medical team.

InMode's suitability, effect and side effects vary with face shape, so whether to have the procedure should be decided after an in-person consultation with an experienced dermatologist.
