Chuseok Week 2026: Planning Skin Treatments Around a Four-Day Holiday

Chuseok 2026 gives Seoul a four-day break from 24 to 27 September. Which dermatology treatments recover inside that window, which do not, and how to time the visit so the holiday does the healing.

Every September the same question comes up in consultations: can I use the Chuseok break to recover from a treatment? In 2026 the holiday runs from Thursday 24 September to Saturday 26 September, and with the Sunday that follows, most people get four days away from work. Four days is a real recovery window. It is also a short one, and a treatment with visible recovery lasting a week does not become a four-day treatment because a holiday happens to be nearby.

This page answers one narrow question: which treatments have recovery estimates inside that window, which do not, and what to settle before you book. The per-treatment figures below restate our downtime planning guide, which lists each window with its sources. If you are planning as a couple, the newlywed planning post covers the two-person version of this arithmetic.

Count the days honestly first

The holiday is 24 to 26 September, a Thursday to a Saturday, according to the Korea Customs Service's 2026 holiday table, and there is no substitute holiday attached to it. Sunday 27 September is simply a Sunday. So the break is four calendar days at most, and for anyone who travels to visit family it is shorter than that in practice. Recovery does not follow the calendar either: the guide's Ultherapy entry notes that swelling and tenderness typically peak within 24 to 48 hours, holiday or not.

The useful way to plan is to take the recovery estimate from the guide, leave yourself some margin, and see whether it fits between your last working day and the morning you need to look like yourself again. Your own recovery may run longer than the estimate, and that is what the consultation is for.

Recovery estimates shorter than the break

These are the treatments whose published recovery estimates sit inside four days. The figures are the ones in our downtime guide.

  • Botox and skin Botox. No social downtime; tiny injection marks fade within hours. Avoid lying flat for four hours and skip intense exercise for 24 hours. Results appear over three to seven days, with the full effect at two weeks.
  • Pico laser toning. Mild redness for one to two hours, normal activity immediately, and sunscreen is mandatory afterwards. Results build gradually over multiple sessions.
  • Thermage. Zero to one day of social downtime: redness fades within hours for most people and normal activity resumes within 24 hours. Results develop over two to six months.
  • PRP. Twelve to 24 hours of redness and possible bruising from the blood draw and injections; no intense exercise for 24 hours.
  • Ultherapy. One to three days of swelling and tenderness with possible bruising, and no intense exercise for 48 hours. Swelling and tenderness typically peak within 24 to 48 hours and resolve within several days.

Skin boosters sit outside this list on purpose. Small injection bumps, redness, swelling or bruising can occur, and how long they last depends on the product, the technique, the area and the person, so there is no single window to plan around. Follow the aftercare for the specific product.

Our guide lists four same-day combinations: Botox with fillers, Botox with Ultherapy, Botox with a skin booster in a different zone, and pico toning followed by a skin booster. Combining does not shorten anyone's recovery, and filler downtime depends heavily on the site: the guide gives lips five to seven days of social downtime, under-eye areas five to 14 days of swelling, cheeks three to five days, and jawline or chin two to four days.

Recovery estimates longer than the break

  • Spot pigment lasers at ablative settings. Five to seven days of dark crusting on the treated spots, strict sun avoidance for two to four weeks, and the crusts must not be disturbed.
  • Fractional CO2 resurfacing. Five to ten days of significant redness, oozing, crusting and peeling, no exercise for five to seven days, and a seven- to ten-day margin before flying.
  • Medium-to-deep chemical peels. Five to ten days of peeling, redness and sensitivity.

The temptation is to schedule one of these on Wednesday and hope the weekend carries it. The estimates say otherwise: a treatment listed at five to ten days may still be recovering on Monday. For international patients the guide is explicit: a minimum seven-day stay, or 10 to 12 days for ablative treatments. For anyone else the same estimates suggest picking a week with more room.

Treating on the day before the break

Treating on the last clinic day before the holiday gives recovery the whole break. It has one cost that patients rarely price in: your first recovery days, the ones when questions come up, may be the days the clinic is closed.

Two things settle this before you choose a date. Our own Chuseok schedule changes from year to year and is published through the booking channel and clinic notices, so confirm it there rather than here. Then ask us, before treatment, which changes need medical review and how to reach us during the break. Keep the written aftercare instructions where you will find them on Friday morning.

Chuseok is a travel holiday, and that changes the aftercare

For many families the break means a long drive, a train, and days spent outdoors at gatherings and grave visits. That is the opposite of the quiet days indoors that most aftercare assumes. The guide's sun rules are the ones to carry with you: sunscreen is mandatory after pico toning, spot pigment lasers need strict sun avoidance for two to four weeks, and fractional CO2 needs four to eight weeks. An ancestral-rite morning in late September sun is real exposure. For Ultherapy, plan the session for the leg of the trip where you can be still, since the guide's swelling window runs one to three days.

If the holiday includes a flight home, the guide's flight windows are the ones to keep: Botox the same day, Thermage the same or next day, PRP the next day, Ultherapy after 24 to 48 hours, and fractional CO2 after seven to ten days. The guide explains why: cabin pressure at altitude lets tissue fluid expand slightly, which can worsen swelling and bruising.

For international patients in Seoul over Chuseok

Seoul during Chuseok is quieter than usual, and many clinics close for at least part of the holiday. If your trip overlaps the break, the practical sequence is: book before the holiday, send your travel dates so the recovery window can be planned around the flight home, and treat the holiday as recovery time rather than clinic time. The guide's stay guidance applies: a minimum seven-day stay for extended-downtime treatments, 10 to 12 days for ablative work. The notes on our international patient page apply unchanged: consultations are paid, quotes are itemized after examination, and English and Chinese are the primary consultation languages. If you decide to go ahead, book a consultation and mention the holiday dates in the message.

A short checklist

  1. Write down the morning you need to look like yourself again.
  2. Compare the guide's recovery estimate for your treatment with the days you actually have, and leave margin.
  3. Confirm the clinic's holiday schedule and how to reach us during the break before you choose the date.
  4. Keep the aftercare instructions and, for laser treatments, the sunscreen with you, especially if the holiday is spent outdoors.
